William Parata Wellington Reserve - Dolphin Place

William Parata Wellington Reserve - Dolphin Place

About

The climb to the trig is worth the effort, as is continuing to monitor this small reserve for mothplant and boneseed which is being blown over from neighbouring properties. The Jasmine has lept the path a few times and the beautiful patch of native bush here is well worth protecting. There is a nice little loop walk from the intersection of Dolphin Place and Tutukaka Block Road up to the trig. It is steep in places and you need to respect the private property the track goes through. A great spot for bird monitoring and we suspect there are also kiwi in the area.

How you can help

Join our SWAT team to help to control weeds that are making their way into the reserve. SWAT meet on Wednesdays at 9:30 in the carpark beside the community church and playcenter (Corner Waoitoi and Ngunguru Roads) and car pool from their. Weed action events run until 12noon or 12:30. No experience neccessary just bring your enthusiasm for restoring our native habitats!
